Student Engagement in the Classroom through Gamification

Description:
This session explains how well-designed games create "magic circles," or risk-free space where students can safely explore lesson material, test strategies, and form cohesive bonds with diverse classmates. The presenter draws from ludology, or the study of games, to describe how concepts such as game constraints, the risk/reward cycle, the theory of fun, uncertainty, and cooperative challenges build student confidence and inspire teamwork.
