Large lecture classes are often supplemented by small laboratory sections intended to illuminate topics discussed in the lectures through hands-on activities. Frequently, however, the laboratory sections do not run parallel to the lectures, thereby reducing the learning impact. This presentation will discuss an on-going project designed to address this problem by creating a virtual laboratory. Tools used to develop the laboratory are video clips and animations created using Adobe Flash software. Success and pitfalls while incorporating the virtual laboratory into the course will be shared.
