How to Frame Difficult Issues for Improved Engagement in the Classroom
Description:
Engaging controversial issues is inherently difficult because of human nature, the complexity of the issues, and our polarized political environment. Many simply avoid any such discussions, often leaving the conversations to be dominated by more extreme or sure-minded voices. This training will provide instructors with tools and insights on how to frame issues to spark deeper and more productive conversation across perspectives that honor both free speech and quality research. In particular, the training will focus on the art of designing and the impact of using well-framed issue discussion guides both for classroom discussion and for assignments and projects.
